A contemporary family-home refurbishment combining bespoke interiors, luxurious materials and carefully considered lighting.
Highbank is a substantial family home in Alderley Edge, Cheshire. Ingrid’s phased refurbishment brings together interior architecture, bespoke furniture and specialist finishes to create sophisticated yet comfortable interiors.
The work featured here includes the master bedroom, enlarged en-suite and two adjoining dressing rooms. A consistent palette of wood veneers, velvet, antique mirror and brushed brass connects the spaces, with carefully integrated smart home technology.
Luxury Master Bedroom Design
The master bedroom was designed as a calming retreat, combining muted tones, velvet textures and sculptural lighting.
An oversized bespoke headboard in bird’s-eye maple veneer forms the focal point, complemented by softly curved furniture. Structural alterations created a recessed setting for the headboard, niches for fine-art photography and concealed curtain detailing.
Layered lighting brings warmth and atmosphere while highlighting the room’s architectural features.
A Refined Master En-Suite
The enlarged en-suite was designed as a natural extension of the bedroom.
A 2.5-metre floating vanity provides generous storage, complemented by a large walk-in wet area with an overhead shower, antique mirror, refined brass fittings and large-format surfaces. Carefully positioned lighting creates a tranquil setting while supporting everyday use.
Two Bespoke Dressing Rooms
Ingrid carried the bedroom’s materials and detailing into the adjoining dressing rooms, creating continuity throughout the suite.
Bird’s-eye maple finishes, recessed brass pulls and fitted cabinetry combine considered storage with a clean, contemporary appearance. Recessed ceilings and integrated lighting add depth, while a sculptural Blossom chandelier forms a focal point above the central island.
Antique mirror and velvet seating soften the cabinetry, balancing craftsmanship with comfort.
A Home Designed Around Its Owners
Ingrid brought together the practical requirements of storage, dressing and relaxation with the clients’ preference for elegant, contemporary interiors.
Each space has its own purpose, while shared materials, bespoke detailing and thoughtful lighting give the master suite a cohesive, personal character.
Behind the Transformation
The refurbishment involved more than replacing furniture and finishes. Structural changes created the recessed headboard setting, enlarged en-suite and ceiling details that shape the finished interiors.
Bespoke cabinetry, integrated technology and coordinated lighting were considered together, allowing practical features to become part of the overall design.
